Hello,

In order to better assist you in providing a solution, could you please identify the brand and model of Thunderbolt 3.0-equipped monitor you will be using that has an 8K (7680×4320, 60 Hz) display?  With that information, forum participants may be better able to assist you.

Thank you.

8K monitors @ 60Hz is firmly the territory of Display Port 2.0. While it may be possible to get there with older tech (there was an 8K Dell monitor 3 years ago with two DisplayPorts) , it's finicky at best.

Current generation of laptops from most vendors is only good for 2x4K@60Hz, or one 5K screen. eGPU maybe another (and even more finicky) route.

For something better, I'd wait a year until DisplayPort 2.0 arrives in next gen GPUs, and these propagate to mobile GPUs, and there are monitors with support for the technology.

@goretsky

The 8k screen is the DELL UltraSharp UP3218K and supports Thunderbolt 3 DisplayPort 1.2

The 5K2K ultrawide (5120 x 2160) is the LG 34WK96U it supports Thunderbolt 3 DisplayPort 1.2 version aswell

@p600

Right now i also connect it using 1x HDMI and 1x DisplayPort; indeed a bit finicky; and the main reason i am looking for a new laptop.

For now my experiances are not very good for screens over the 4k and there support. I hope DisplayPort 2 will solve it; and that is will still support my currect 8k and 5k2k monitors.

But better yet, maybe there is a laptop that is currently supporting these resolutions.

P53S would be great with a NVIDIA® Quadro® P520 2GB but looks like it will not support the 8K monitor..

Hello,

According to the Dell UltraSharp 32 8K Monitor: UP3218K page, the monitor only supports input using two DisplayPort version 1.4 ports.  The monitor does not have any USB Type C/Thunderbolt ports at all, just a 4-port USB 3.0 hub built in to it.  Based on that, I am guessing there are currently no manufacturers that offer a laptop that can support it, at least at 8K resolution.  For an 8K-compatible computer, I would suggest looking at one of Lenovo's ThinkStation P520 towers.  These can be ordered with GPUs that have up to four DisplayPort ports on them.

For a laptop capable of driving a 5K, 4K or 2K external display at 60 Hz, I would suggest a ThinkPad P73 or a ThinkPad P53.  Either model can be ordered with a 4K UHD (3840×2160) display screen.
