Problem with boot password

2011-04-13, 19:46 PM

I have a T60 type 6371. I am selling it to a friend. I have supervisor and finger print setted so I have to delete and erase the supervisor password.  I had done that and also disabled the security chip. Now, when I bootup, i get a prompt for a password. I never set a boot password (at least of that I can remember) and my supervisor password no longer works. I though when I disable the TPM, it will not prompt me for any password. I am sure disabiling the TPM part.  How can I get into the BIOS again?  Come to think of it, I may had set the TPM to inactive.  Is there a default password?  tx

If there is a password prompt before the OS boot someone must have set the password. Default there is no passord so in other words no default password. To enter BIOS just press F1 and remove all the passwords (Supervisor, BIOS, HDD, user master) under security settings in BIOS. If you forgot any of these password there is no way to remove the password again since you need the current password to change/remove. If you forgot the HDD password you can replace the HDD with a new one.
