Re: SSD for T61p

Yeah, it was that long. It took forever before it was properly booted - but thats for a "fully" installed system with AV and loads of stuff on it. It spend about 4% of the power from a cold boot to a completely booted Vista.

Re: SSD for T61p

I just bought a 60GB Vertex and installed it in my T61p. Problem is that I get the Error 2100 HD initialization error and BIOS does not want to detect the drive. However, running the same Vertex in a T60p or an X200 works without any problems (and performance is nice). Did you have to do anything to get your Vertex working in your T61p?

I updated the BIOS to the latest version but that did not help. I tried switching SATA mode in BIOS between Compatibility and AHCI and that did not help either. Lenovo Support was not able to help me. The only thing I have not tried is to update the firmware on the Vertex (have to locate a desktop system to do that).

That's still a really long boot time. I also have a fully installed system with about 15Gbs left on my 160GB HD and it doesn't take that long. You should prob defrag and remove some of the worthless startup items.

I have set the BIOS to compatibility - but nothing else. Note that you the harddisk password is not supported on the Vertex, and you will get a boot error if you set it (you can bypass the booterror with escape, but its annoying).

You might want to try to visit the OCZ SSD forum and ask there: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=186

Curious about the battery life improvements..that would be a bonus. We are putting together ruggedized T61 for our mobile fleet.

Please let us know if you get the Vertex working with your T61. I'm about to purchase a SSD for my T61P and am waiting for detailed reports from Thinkpad SSD users.

I haven't seen any real difference on batteryuse - feels like it lasts a tad longer, but nothing really significant so far. Haven't used it long enough to have a proper opinion - but I think the disk is a small part of the powerusage, so any gains will be small anyway.

Re: SSD for T61p

Hello I want to buy a ssd but I'm not sure if is really better, I ear some people complain about multitasking. But also that ssd like Samsung solve the problem. Does it has any trouble with T61p 6460-d8g? 4 gb ram

At the same time I'm afraid to loose my coffee time while copying 100 gb. May that's why I want it.

Are they good in multitasking?

Any surprise problem like sata I or II?

And why everybody complain about Sata I if it is 1.5 gb\s and the ssd is at much 220 Mbps?

Is quite expensive so I'll think it quite well I need space and 320 gb 7200 RPM is 1\10 the price.  while 256gb ssd is 10 time faster.

And as if I haven't make enough questions... How did you do to boot windows in 1.5 minutes. Because it takes like 5 minutes to me. And I defragment my 160 gb 7200 RPM hard drive quite often. And also stopped a few programs in the startup. And also runs kaspersky antivirus.
