T60 Graphic adapter problem

2010-11-07, 19:11 PM

Hi !

I worked with my T60 2007-FUG almost 2 years with windows XP. Now I switched to Windows 7 32 bit. System was installed on clear 320GB WD Hard drive, everything works good, excepts graphic card ... (Radeon X1300)

When I try to switch Aero on, use a screensaver or start some game etc. an error occurs:

"The --whatever-- can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compactible with Direct3D"

I tried some graphic drivers, firstly some from Lenovo site ( W7 graphic driver is missing, so i used windows Vista one, according to posts here it doesn't matter.) Then I tried download drivers directly from amd.com but nothing helped.

I guess that problem is in graphic adapter, because when I use ThinkVantage Toolbox for Device information I saw this:

Device info

I think, there should be Video card: ATI X1300 and Video card memory 64.00 MB instead of this.

Control panel/system/device manager/display adapters show me only Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, which is that one you can see at image upward ...

I' ll be very grateful to you for any piece of advice, thanks !

Dave from Czech

Try running Windows Update and see whether it will be able to locate the correct driver.

Look in the device manager, under administrative tools/computer management. Try uninstalling the video adapter. Then restart the machine and let windows update get the driver

Firstly, thanks a lot for quick reply !

Done, device driver installed, marked it as "ready to use"  but it's still 16MB ATI ATOMBIOS, no traces of my X1300 :(

I have a request and a question. How much memory do you think you have? Whatever the answer, have your memory checked.

you have to much running in the backround & not enough ram use device manager click on display adapter ,double click MOBILE INTEL(R) 945 EXPRESS CHIPSET this will open the properties window click resource tab at the bottum there is a conflicting device list then you can use msconfig click services tab check the box to hide all microsoft services then disable what ever you don't need
