T61 Screen Blank after un-Dock

2008-05-08, 18:58 PM
I just formatted my system and installed all my appropriate apps but am having problem with the system dock function.  Before the format, when I undock from the advanced mini dock, the laptop's LCD kicks back in normally.  However, this time the screen stays blank after undock.  What am I missing?  I can't seem to find any settings in the Presentation Director to get this to work ...

If you are attempting to use a resolution greater than 1280x1024 and the Presentation Director will not let u set the profile, the workaround that helped me is to edit the registry entries directly.  Here are the instructions: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=236902

In there, it does not describe the resolutions in detail, but you can easily calculate.  The hex values are in 8 digit format:

YYYYXXXX

Y: Vertifical resolution
X: Horizontal Resolution

If you want to set it to 1920x1200, convert each of those numbers to hex using the Windows calculator program in the accessories folder.  Then plug it into the registry key:

04b00780  --->  04b0=1200pixels & 0780=1920pixels

When you open Presentation Director again, it will be forced to display the correct resolution... such a pain.  But it works.

Just as an update, when I deleted my docked-only profile, I can no longer select a resolution greater than 1280x1024 in the presentation director... any suggestions?
