T61 Wireless Card Connection Confusion

2013-11-25, 23:16 PM

I am replacing the factory Intel 4965 AG Mini PCIe 802.11 in my T61/766301U with an Intel 4965 AGN.

The factory unit (AG) had 3 connected cables: Grey at 1 (TR1), White at 3 (RO) and Black at 2 (TR2). The replacement card (AGN) also has 3 connectors.

The Lenovo Hardware Maintenance Manual states the following:

>In  models  with  802.11  a/b/g  wireless  LAN  card,  plug  the  gray  cable  into  the
jack  labeled  MAIN  on  the  card,  and  the  black  cable  into  the  jack  labeled  AUX.
If  the  computer  you  are  servicing  has  three  cables,  put  the  white  cable  in  the
cable  bag  in  the  card  slot.

>In  models  with  802.11  a/b/g/n  wireless  LAN  card,  plug  the  gray  cable
(MAIN)  into  the  jack  labeled  TR1,  the  white  cable  (3rd)  into  jack  labeled  R0,
and  the  black  cable  (AUX)  into  jack  labeled  TR2  on  the  card.

My confusion is that the factory 4965 AG had 3 cables connected and not 2 like stated above.

Do I just hook up all 3 cables back to the new 4965 AGN?

I have also read in another thread to just connect the Grey (1) and Black (2) and leave the White (3) disconnected for the AGN card.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thank you!!
