T61P Dual Boot options

2008-05-20, 5:35 AM
If I have 2 disk drives, one with Win XP, the other with Win Vista,  Can I boot from either drive without issue?  One drive will be in the permanant slot while the other drive will be in ultra bay adaptor.  Has anyone done this and are there any special tweeks needed to switch from one operating system to the other if done in this way?

I have done this on a desktop pc without an issue, so i can't imagine why it wouldn't work on a notebook.  however, you do need both HD's installed at the same time when you do the install so this way windows will detect a dual-boot.  Also, install XP first, then Vista, and not the other way around or it might not work properly.

Hello,
I have done this before with a similar configuration (Microsoft Windows Vista on the internal hard disk drive, Windows XP on the hard disk drive in the tray).  The hard disk drive with Windows XP is from a different ThinkPad.  The only thing I have to do is press the F12 key at boot and then select which hard disk drive I wish to boot from, otherwise it defaults to the internal hard disk drive for my configuration.
