I'm on one stick of RAM.  I get extremely longer playing times on Call of Duty 4 but with an occasional Nvidia driver crash and then recovers itself.

I have the latest bios and all system updates and windows updates for vista ultimate 32bit

I found that by disabling the wireless lan made the warcraft run better.
Seems the intel 4965agn have some problem.

Could anyone confirm that?

Hi!

I am another lucky guy with a random crash problem. (2 sticks of RAM) I've been following this issue for months. It has not bothered me as I do not use my laptop for games. The system has experienced these shutdowns during Vista DreamScene and also while watching web stream (flash) in full-screen. All the tests, benchmarks, drivers change, updates did not solve the problem.

But now I started to experience these shut-downs during 'normal' work (2 VS 2005, SQL ManagementStudio, Firefox, Explorer, Text editors; open). I am now getting increasingly aggravated.

Spending the time on this issue I have also found a way how to crash it instantly - withouth exception. If I open SecondLife, and click login I immediately experience a crash! Can anyone else, with the random shut-down problem, confirm this? Just create a dummy character, try to log in with a client and before anything can be displayed the system goes bye-bye.

I'm giving it another month, otherwise I'll just have to send it in :(

BR, Uros.

All,

I just wanted to check back in and provide a brief update.

We have worked with two forum members to bring in their systems to product engineering for test and repair (replacement of components in line with conventional service).

These symptoms being discussed on the forums have been reproduced,  although the time between events varies widely - sometimes 5 mins, sometimes 45 mins.

Work continues, and I will try to provide another update when more is known.

Thanks all!

Re: T61P Graphic problems--random shut down, BSOD, Crash

Hi Lenovo - This post is to let others know about the frustrations :robotsad: I'm having my new Lenovo T61P CTO, T7800, 4G, Nvidia FX 570M, 200G, Intel Turbo Cache, Windows Vista Ultimate 32 with 4 year warranty. - $2700.00

I ordered this on Dec 6th 2007, got it later that month. From the start it took forever to boot :robotindifferent: and the HD light seemed to always indicate activity.  When I tried to play a video clip the unit would turn off. I installed Office 2007 with no problems but when I installed Adobe Master Collection it would crash on disk 2 or 3.  When I tried system restore it crashed. When I restored from CD's I found they were for XP (what a drag, but good for testing).  After XP installation system would crash when doing any Video or running PC Mark 03,  PC Vantage 2005.

I sent it back to Lenovo and they replaced the memory and upgraded the BIOS. Got the system back and it still hangs or just turns off when doing anything video related.  These issues are random but reproducable.  I've turned off Intel Turbo Cache, used MSCONFIG to disable drivers / unnecessary software.  Still crashes. Bender is not happy with his Lenovo T61P.

It appears a LOT of other T61 users are having the exact same problem.  I expect my computer to be combatible with mainstream software it's expected.
I like the ThinkPad series. :robotvery-happy: I am once again sending it back to repair.  I'll keep everyone posted.
If it is not fixed Bender will be very uhhappy and let Amex and Lenovo duke it out and I will get a Mac for $200.00 more.

Thanks Bender -

Hello Tim,

it is indeed correct to say that the time to trigger an bad event (BSOD, power down, graphics display driver stop) varies very wildly!

In my case it can be just a couple of minutes and other times after an hour or more of solid 3D gaming.

Thanks for the continued attention,
andrea

Hi Mark,
thanks for the update, good to hear that Lenovo is aware of this problem and apparently working on a solution.

I just wanted to add myself to the list of people experiencing this problem. I have a t61p with 4 gb lenovo memory and I'm running Vista 64 bit. Everytime I'm trying to play Medieval 2 or Age of Empires 3 I get a system crash after 2-3 min max., unless I remove 2 gb of ram. Operating system, bios and drivers are all up to date to the best of my knowledge.
Any other non-gaming application I used so far ran without problems.

I have to say that I seem to have been a bit unlucky overall with my lenovo laptop: When I first ordered it, some of the keys were sticky and squeaked, so I had to replace the keyboard (which was no big problem once I had reached the very friendly representative at the lenovo hotline). Next, my ultraby battery suddenly stopped working after ~3 weeks, and now I'm experiencing the memory-related problem described above. Maybe I was unlucky because I ordered this laptop relatively early after it was released, but I have to say that my previous laptop was an Acer that cost me less than on third and with that I never had one single hardware-related problem during the three years or so I used it...

Anyways, to be fair I also have to say, that on the other hand I still like working with this computer, especially the keyboard and the mouse are really very nice imo.

I updated the bios. Interestingly when I open SecondLife it does not crash immediately like before. I get something on the screen and try to log in, but it crashes after 10 seconds. Before it always crashed immediately (nothing was shown on the screen).
