Hi Mark,

thanks for this great news! I'm sure a lot of people (including myself) are really looking forward to hearing from you and learning what is the best way to proceed and fix this problem!
Thanks a lot for your efforts!!!

Re: T61P Graphic problems--random shut down, BSOD, Crash

I'm experiencing this issue as well. I forsee a BIOS update or a hardware resolution, I'd be surprised if the fix was something as simple as a hotfix.

If its a hardware fix that means sending the laptop into the depot so you can get it back in worse condition than when it was sent in. =\

Re: T61P Graphic problems--random shut down, BSOD, Crash

Hi, It's Bender again - I'm curious about users experience with sending in their TP for service.  It appears people are worried that it will come back in worse condition than it went in.  I send mine in (twice) and it was fine.  Except the 1st time all they did was reformat the HD (I told them it was ok), did a BIOS update and replaced the memory.  It worked better, but still crashed on playing Videos (even youtube), Installing Adobe Master Collection, or running any 3D processor/graphics tests.
When I sent it in the 2nd time I requested not to reformat the HD and don't send it back unless it can pass the tests.
I left the Icons on the desktop - they complied and replaced the planar card (motherboard) - Everything else was in order.
Of course I took pictures, wrote down serial numbers etc.
Remember this thing bombed brand new out of the box.  So I had no choice - It just didn't work right.
Hope this helps -

I have sent mine in four times for defects and received it back with over ten screws missing each time. That and more issues present than when I sent it in.

I could point you to at least ten users on NBR with similar experiences without any type of effort whatsoever. If I tried I could propably pool 100 active NBR members with nothing but issues with depot repairs.

I hope it is something that can be fixed without sending in the machine.  My T61p is brand new (about 1 week old now) and I'd probably cry if it came back worse than when I sent it in.  Hackez's story makes me scared.

Hey guys...
I don't know about everyone here, but I sent several different laptops into the depot for various reasons and I never had any real problems with screws missing or cosmetic damage.

Mark and others,
I know that this seems to still be in testing.  Others have asked this but I will as well.  Are these errors occuring with the regular T61s with Intel X3100 integrated GPU or with Nvidia NVS140M??
