Any update for people with the 42W7563 planar? I'd love to be able to run more than 1 stick of RAM.

no news about the FRU 42W7563.   It's almost like pulling teeth to get things done around here.

At Lenovo's pace with this issue, maybe we shouldn't bother to send back the laptop cause it's now an outdated/obsolete piece of hardware that you never got to enjoy from day 1.

And see-ing people having to send it back more than once really deters me from doing it all.

People were telling me before I bought it that, Thinkpad is not the same as at it was when IBM was running the show...I didn't want to believe them though.

pls do not repeat this b@@lsh1t that the lenovo engineers are more competent in this issue i was working for the ibm as a low-level hardware tester and engineer, i know the process how the ibm handled such an issue before what is lenovo is doing right now notting more just posting 10000 forum post about how the lenovo engineers know better this issue than the forum members thx guys, if you are better just solve the issue and remove the margeting/pr members from here like you and mark kthx

Re: T61P Graphic problems--random shut down, BSOD, Crash

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my experience thus far in getting the planar card replaced.

I sent my TP in on 4/20. When I called I made the rep aware of the tip which he said he saw. However when I got my TP back they had replaced my planar card with the same FRU 42W7877 instead of 44C3931.

I called back again today. The new rep could not find the tip at first even though I provided the document id number. She kept repeating that I would need to replace the planar card with the same FRU if it was defective. I kept pushing and she did eventually find it after putting me on hold for approx 5 minutes and speaking with her supervisor. She claimed the tip wasn't accessible when she tried to look for it initially.

I am arranging to send my TP back again. This time the rep claimed she would write the specific FRU to use. However when I checked the status on the website all it said on the comments were "See tip" which is what the prior rep had written. Hopefully there are more specific instructions posted somewhere else.

All T61p machines manufactured after March 20th are supposed to be free of this issue.

All,

Thanks - we are looking into the 42W7653.

If you have this FRU, I'd ask that you hold on that while we check that out - please give me a day or so on that.

I'll be back.

Hi,
is there any progress regarding this issue? It's been 3 1/2 weeks...
Thanks!

Where did this information come from and is it officially sanctioned by Lenovo?

Ah, OK, thanks Nonny.  I did read that post but missed the date.  Unfortunately, I'm still a little confused.  This problem is only happening on the 15" widescreen T61p, with the 256Mb video memory, 126bit video bus motherboard (7877)?  But there are reports with it happening with the 6873 motherboard and 3931 replacement since then.  Also, are there any reports of the 2-DIMM crashes with the 14" widescreen or 4x3 displays (mine is an 8891CTO with 7874 motherboard and 4x3 SXGA+ display with the 128Mb video memory/64bit video bus)?

Anybody????    Bueller?????
