T61p battery can store 49% of its original full charge capacity

2008-08-28, 17:52 PM

I own a T61p, and my battery seems to be unusable, just out of the blue. The Lenovo battery utility says that it can store only 49% of its original capacity.

The battery bar code is 11S92P1142Z1ZD4H78E1L8, and I first used the computer in October, even the battery says that (First used date: 2007-10) and the battery has a one year warranty.

If I remove the power cord, the computer can stay alive only for a few minutes, regardless the 49% number.

Oh, and the Power Manager says: Condition: Poor

Should I send the battery to Lenovo's service; will Lenovo replace my battery?

Thanks,

Paul

Raise a service issue. Lenovo service should send you a replacement battery and also packing into which you will return your bad one.

Just give Lenovo support in Romania a call, they will arrange for a replacement battery sent to you, you just give back your old battery. The battery is obviously have problems with Cell. Is it a Sanyo battery or Panasonic one???

It's a SONY with 6-cells (the default one that arrived with the computer).

You guys are really optimistic about service. I had really bad experiences with HP's service from Romania.

Really hope that they will change my battery.

Unfortunately I'm in Slovenia right now, and I won't be returning home till September 21; still, the battery should be in warranty even then.

I'll give them a phone call.

It's now down to 46% of its original capacity. I've got a feeling that it will fail completely this week.

There is nothing to be opmisitic about, your battery is within warranty. Lenovo ships out new battery and you give back the old, nothing more nothing less. Just give them a call and they will arrange for a new battery to sent to you, don't worry yourself over trivial things like this. This is what you expect from Thinkpad warranty service, it didn't become the 2 billion USD brand if it was like what HP/Compaq does to their customers outside of USA. Well give them a call anyway, and inform them about the matter.
