Hello,

By upgrade, do you mean you installed Windows 7 over Windows XP, or that you performed a clean install of the operating system?

Regards,

You need to install the PowerManagement and the Hotkey feature. Normally the Lenovo System Update will take care of it.

But before providing any links, which kind of Thinkpad do you have? Can you provide the 7 digit code MTM? You'll find it in a black and white sticker at the bottom of the laptop.

Thanks! Try installing this package first:

System Update 5.06

Run it and see what software it updates. In case it doesn't install the Hotkey Features and the PowerManagement, you can run them manually from these files:

Lenovo Power Management Driver

Hotkey Features Integration

Thanks for your reply.

I installed each of the above but the issues still exist.

I located some other articles that suggested using an earlier version of the Hot Keys On-Screen Display - -

I located & installed the On-Screen Display sub part of 8jvu34ww.exe AND THAT RESTORED the Audio Up & Down display and the Brightness display.

That still leaves Fn+F3 does not function and there is no On-Screen battery display plus Fn+F4 does not function to enter Standby mode.

Hi.

I will list what I have installed on my system and I confirm that these versions work. You can download the packages in the Lenovo support portal.

- Lenovo System Interface Driver - v. 1.05

- On Screen Display - v. 6.62.01

- ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration - v. 3.81.0100

- Power Manager - v. 6.54

Try the versions listed in the previous post first ... reboot the system and see if all works as expected. If not, downgrade the HotKey software by 1 version and try again. Always fully uninstall before reinstalling.

I hope this helps ... best of luck.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried the things you suggested but still have the problem (no pwr mgmt & no sleep functions) plus I have now lost the volume & brightness displays that were working.

This removing files then rebooting then installing next older one then rebooting etc is consuming far too much time - - there must be a better way to resolve this.

Re: Updated XP to Win 7

Partial success - after trying several of the older versions of Hot Key features, I returned to Pwr Mgmt 1.67.04.05 which restored on-screen displays for both Volume & Brightness. The Pwr Mgmt job installed On-Screen display version 6.67.10 - Now I need the following...

Pwr Mgmt Fn+F3

     and

Sleep Mode Fn+F4

Any ideas???
