Thanks!  Did you have to do anything with the BIOS to use it?

No, I did not do anything but doing the HW install. Upon reboot, device manager does the installation on its own, so i just sat back and enjoyed the function. :smileyhappy:

I ordered the adaptor.  In the meantime, I found and installed the Middleton BIOS. And my old Intel WiFi adaptor is now showing 54 mbps instead of 11.  And it started without error.  I wonder if the new BIOS will fix the problem on it's own?

In two T61's of mine, the Atheros AR5BXB112 AR9380 adapter works great.  The Intel Ultimate-N 6300 also works with adapter to make it full-length.  Using Middleton Bios, Windows 8.1 pro.  Replaced the 4965AGN.

I got the new card and installed it  So far, all is working fine.  One question...it shows up as WiFi - 2.  Why is that?  Just curious.

That's Windows way of accounting for a second adapter installed. In my T61, I replaced the original 4965AG with a 4965AGN which became Wi-Fi 2. Most recently I replaced the 4965AGN with an Atheros adapter and Windows shows it as Wi-Fi 3.

By the way, the connection speed went from 54mbps to 65mbps and now 130 mbps!

My speed stayed at 54. Maybe that's a limitation of the Atheros AR5BXB6 that I installed. Does anyone know?

My Atheros adapter is model AR5BXB72, Lenovo part 42t0825.

As I stated in my previous post, the connection speed went from 65 mbps with the 4965AGN to 130 mbps with the Atheros (see attachment). Same wireless router same distance from it.

The Atheros AR5BXB6 card has 802.11abg specs which means it normally connects at a maximum of 54 Mbps. Generally, both wireless router/access point and network adapter need to support 802.11n or 802.11ac specs for higher speeds.

This card may support a "super G" or "super AG" mode for connections up to 108 Mbps...but it would require a router that supported that.

Re: WiFi Adaptor problems with Windows 8.1

If I buy this, I see two problems.

One, it has three antenna connectors, but I only have two connectors in my t61. Which connectors do I use?

Two, I tried a newer Intel adapter, but the computer would not boot because of an unrecognized wifi adapter. Will the Atheros AR5BXB112 AR9380 work, or do I need to flash ot this Middleton bios?

Thanks for the assistance.
