Re: WiFi Adaptor problems with Windows 8.1

My T61 had 3 wires but the Atheros I bought only had two connectors.  In any event, it you download the t61 manual from the Lenovo site it has the instructions to replace the card and where the wires go.  In my case, the middle white wire was no longer used and tucked out of the way.

I did flash the Middleton bios and I had no problems booting up.

Re: WiFi Adaptor problems with Windows 8.1

Hello,

I am new here to the forum and also run into WiFi problem with own T61 14.1"(Type 7659).

I have Intel's 4965agn adaptor which randomly crashes with BSOD under 8.1 64bit. As there is only option to disable n standart into drivers page, i decided to upgrade to Dual Band Intel 7260 WiFi adaptor. As i already had modded middleton's BIOS installed i guessed that any WLAN card should be compatible, but after installment i realised that i was wrong.

Intel's 7260 WiFi adaptor (w/o FRU number on it) is mostly unable to connect to WiFi network and if it is able, it loses it after about 5 minutes (WiFi g/n tried) and no BT connectivity options were found.. So i am guessing that not every WiFi card is usable here.

Could you please me specify which Dual Band wifi cards (hopefully with BT option) is suitable to my T61 (7659) ? Maybe i should buy exact the same but with FRU number on it and it will be ok? Fully compatible list would be appriecieted.

Many thanks for your reply.

I was successful in getting this wlan card to work and have no issues yet.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009B5A0F0/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is the APPLE AirPort Extreme Atheros AR5BXB112 AR9380 PCI-E MIMO Wireless WIFI Card 802.11a/b/g/n 450M Dual-band 2.4/5 GHz

It has three wire ports, and I just connected them in the same order as my previous Intel wifi card that was in the laptop.

I have a motherboard from a T61 8895 and have no problems with Intel 6300. Had to add a third antenna though as I had only two ;)

Re: WiFi Adaptor problems with Windows 8.1

This is the only thing that worked for me:

Go to Device Manager in Control Panel

Go to Network Adapters

Right click individually the 2 Network Connection adapters Choose PROPERTIES Choose POWER MANAGEMENT UNCLICK ---> Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Yes, but I did not have success with that settings with my Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN on R61. I have had  blue screen two or three times per day with latest intel driver from lenovo download site. Only with driver from link above (driver version 11.5.0.32, 12/20/2007 ) my comp finally works fine (without blue screens).
