Re: Windows 7 64bits Professional and Intel Turbo Memory driver (some troubles)

At the moment there are three configurations in this thread:

1) The original Vista configuration, which I assume worked with Turbo Memory with no problems.

2) The new Windows 7 configuration, which causes errors in Windows Update and Microsoft Security Essentials when Turbo Memory is installed.

3) Another new Windows 7 configuration, which differs from #2 only in the brand and amount of memory, which you indicated works fine.  If you meant that it works with Turbo Memory with no problems, than the issue with #2 is related to your Kingston Memory (not the amount of memory, but perhaps the timings or perhaps the quality of the memory, which you could test with Memtest86+).  If you meant that it works fine without Turbo Memory but otherwise has the same problems as #2, then I still think the issue is your 4K (Advanced Format) drive.  You have a first generation Turbo Memory module, and as far as I recall there were no 4K drives in production when it came out.  In addition, Seagate runs some software within the drive itself called SmartAlign which is invisible to the operating system (and therefore invisible to Turbo Memory) which could be the cause of the problem.  It's all an educated guess.

Don't worry about not understanding my last post.  I write them all myself, and I don't understand them half the time, either. :smileyhappy:

Broadband 3G

All works fine with new notebook configuration (OS Windows 7 Prof, programs 32 and 64 bits, drivers)
behind an exception of Intel "Turbo Memroy Driver".

I have made one more experiment with "Intel Turbo Memory".

I made System Restore Point.

Then I loaded KB982018 from Update Microsoft site (Windows6.1-KB982018-v3x64.msu) to notebook as file MSU.

Then I made UNinstallation of MS KB982018 update from OS Windows 7.
Then I made new installation of Intel Turbo Memory Driver.

Then I tried to install MS KB982018 (Windows6.1-KB982018-v3x64.msu).

Intallation of MS KB982018 was failed with error code 0xc8000247 .

Then I returned to System Restore Point.

Then I installed MS KB982018.
Installation of MS KB982018 was success without any error codes.

Try installing the latest Rapid Storage drivers instead of the Turbo Memory driver.

Then try the Microsoft hotfix for AdvFormat drives.

Hi,

I had the same problem after installing “Intel Matrix Storage Manager” on my T400, and a system restore solved the problem. I didn't install Turbo memory so it is the storage manager that causes the problem. Maybe Lenovo should look in to it ?

Grtz,

Henk
