Wireless device trouble with T61

2008-04-14, 20:46 PM
Hello guys...

I have a T61 brand new and reinstalled with fresh copy of a windows XP CD SP2.

I installed all drivers by downloading them from Lenovo... and also installed the Access Connections.

Although the Wireless Switch is turned on... but when I create new connection Profile, clicking on the "Find Network"... it would say "The wireless radio is powered off. Do you want to power it on?".

I clicked Yes but it does nothing.... clicking on "Find Network" again and the process repeats... Any hints? Thanks!

Nobody from Lenovo support to help me on this one?

Called support today... waited 45 mins to get through, just as soon as the technician got started, my phone dropped the line :(

He asked me for a call back number but hasn't called in 30 mins... I need serious help!

Please see the Lenovo Community forum rules..... this is not a Lenovo staffed support channel.  You may or may not get a response depending on whoever esle here may know something about any issue at hand.

My suggestion is that you make sure that the power settings for your WiFi connections are all set to maximum performance.

Cheers,

Bill

I had the same problem and it annoyed the crap out of me. It still does it, but I figured out how to turn it back on when it gets shut off. Click on Start/All Programs/ThinkVantage/Productivity Center, and one of your choices near the top should be to Power On or Power Off Wireless Radio. Just click on it and it will go to the opposite of what is showing, and your wireless indicator light should come to life.

Hope this helps you out.

I found the solution after a couple days, you can reinstall but is not an option if you have the reason. If you had virus or you installed software (microsoft update patches), something strange happend with the last windows updates that creates a conflict itself and the service WLAN  & WIRED Config services are not automatic. Additionally a value is set in the registry. I uninstall the access connections and nothing works BUT some in internet with the same problem found the solution:

Follow the next steps (Windows vista):

1. regedit
2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ndisuio
3. Change Start to "0x000000002 (2)"
4. Restart

That's easy!...but only when you have the solution... I hope it's gonna work...it works for you and hope for so much other users that I see recently have the same problem..

Regards.

My hypothesis after that:  Microsoft is looking how forcing to reinstall and download a clean patch secuence for or after SP1  because the service pack secuence includes incorrect fixes that patches several days later...

Hello all

I had the exact problem. I tried everything  I read on this form and others with no success.

I'm now happy to inform that the solution for me was so simple and I hope you all benefit.

I re-installed the Intel driver for wireless card (3945BG in my case) and it worked like magic.

Hope it will work for you all as well.
