Z61t Power Issue turns on for split sec then off..

2013-11-30, 21:51 PM

Good day,

So I can keep trying to turn it on and it does the same thing everytime. Lights turn on, battery light turns on orange, not once but twice. AC comes on green and then orange.. However it may be orange because of the battery light illuminating it and it could be un lite. Fans or hardrive seem to fire up in this short time. The battery is connected and AC is plugged in as the battery doesnt last long so I mostly only use it with AC. The screen doesnt flinch in this time.

Had no problems previously. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jesse

Hi Jesse,

Welcome to the community.

Sounds like a motherboard failure. Unfortunately you will need a new motherboard.

Vince.

Hi,

This is sometimes caused by mangled USB port pins shorting power.  Take a very close look inside your USB ports.

Thanks for your help guys. Does anyone know the best way to get the information off a dead laptop? I'd 'like' to just swap it onto my tower pc, but maybe thats wishful thinking.

Cheers,

Jesse
