ibm t30 some keys+shift outout different characters

2008-08-02, 13:03 PM

I have an IBM t30 stuck in an odd mode.

Shift+2 produces " instead of @ symbol,

Shift+' produces @ instead of "

Shift+3 produces £ instead of hash symbol

can someone out there advise?

Nothing odd about it, it's the UK keyboard setting....that was loaded as default when the OS was installed, but you should be able to modify it.

Which OS are you running?

Cheers,

Welcome,

Let me ask you if the strange symbols are the hidden characters shown on some keyboard keys such

as typing 'J' reveals (hidden) 1, 'K' reveals 2, 'L' reveals '3'..

If this happens, then you should look up here...

http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=T_Series_Thinkpads&message.id=12658&query.id=12880#M12658

Let us know...

cheers,

Aris

No it is not that issue. Those keys are normally behaved.

if I hold the shift key & press 2 to get an @ symbol I get ".

If I hold shift and press ' I get " #.

Its strange.

THe OS is Windows XP - SP3.

It was not behaving this way previously and something has changed.

Any suggestions on how to fix it most welcome.

Thanks

Rob
