installing 2x32gb internal SD to T61P

2016-06-10, 7:44 AM

For no other reason than I wanted to try it, I ordered a Mini PCI-e to Dual TF/SDHC/SDXC Reader Adaptor (cost £5.40 including delivery from China to the UK) along with two Sandisk 32gb Trans Flash cards to fit into my T61p unused mPCi-e slot on the motherboard.

Now I have two internal 32gb drives available and can even boot from one of them (option in bios as a USB drive).

SD cards are not made to be used as a active hard drive. You can use them to store files (maybe using symbolic links to link to documents folder).

Be careful.

I already have a 250gb Kingston SSD in there as the main drive so no need to use the trans flash for anything other than additional storage. But good advice for anyone else wanting to try it Jonas.

I'd be interested in knowing if a card like this will work in the half size minipcie slot that the 15.4" models have. I believe it was only used for WUSB (wireless usb) option, but if it worked you wouldn't need the adapter and could use the full size slot for something like WWAN.
