lenovo t60 motherboards

2016-03-08, 17:02 PM

I recently bought a replacement motherboard for my T60... naively thinking  it would simply slot in and work...

Now I realise there are many different part numbers for these motherboards.

My old one is a 41W1362 and the one I bought is a 41T0116 which lacks a number of  sockets so I can't connect everything back together.

Is there any way to find out the specs for this motherboard? On Ebay there are several with 41W136* P/Ns and I'd like to know if they would be compatible with my old one. Is there any way to tell?

I   believe the 41w1360 will work, for the 41w1364 you'll need a discrete graphics fan to cool the ATI graphics

Edit: it would also appear both of these boards have no WWAN mini PCIe slot.

Well spotted!

It was a typo, should have been 42T0116

Re: lenovo t60 motherboards

T60 motherboards can be a nightmare to sift through with all the different numbers and new revisions. Most of the early ones were designed to run 32bit cpu chips, then later ones to run 64bit chips, as well as standard and widescreen models and five different graphic systems all with many revisions of each. If you notice different ports on the boards then you probably have the wrong size board. Rather than mess with the part numbers it would be more helpful to know exactly what T60 model you have and I may even be able to get you a very affordable board to replace it, or at least guide you in the right direction.

T60 Type 1951-CT0

The replacement board was the correct size but various sockets on the motherboard were missing.

Thanks for the offer of an affordable board but the cost of shipping would probably be greater than the cost of the board :}.

Both are T60 boards with integrated graphics, but 42T0116 is missing the socket for the WWAN (cellular modem).  If you use that feature, you need a different board.  41W1362 has the socket.  My notes say that 41V9914, 44C3987 and 44C3700 do also.  (no guarantee)

Your model is a "cto" (configure to order) so could have any specs, but as richk notes it has Intel graphics. You could upgrade to a board with ATI graphics if you also replace the fan, or with some modifications you could switch to a T61 board and if it was my laptop I'd go with either of those option, but since you have a very similar board already and assuming you don't have a wwan card installed in your laptop then there is no reason you can't use the one you have already.

ps. @Richk, thanks for identifying which port he was referring to, I was assuming an external port/s were different which didn't make sense to me unless one was widescreen.
