Re: trying to upgrade video drivers on T61

Looking at the nVIDIA site.

nVIDIA is using 169.xx numbers for their driver versions. Right now they are at 169.47 for the Quadro FX 570M.

prelate needs version 169.27 or later.

Anybody know how to correlate nVIDIA numbers with Lenovo numbers??

There's a javascript utility on the Nvidia site that determines the driver version installed on the machine. The last video card driver that I had installed on my machine (T61 with NVS 140M - latest Lenovo driver) showed that it correlated with Nvidia version 153.xx.

The only other video drivers in the 160's that are available for the Thinkpads are from laptopvideo2go ... Those are ... er... "embellished" to recognize all the mobile video cards - but there are risks involved in installing those drivers. First, the features associated with the machine (such as presentation director, power maximizer, etc) will NOT work with the drivers from laptopvideo2go. Second, there's a possibility of damaging the GPU - something not covered by warranty. The GPU itself will retain information on the drivers used to run in, so if Lenovo (or depot techs) determine that the vid card was run using unsupported drivers, ... well, you get the idea.
