Question

i am going to buy a used T60 type 1952wev, but this model does not have a fingerprint reader. Is it possible to replace the palmrest with a fingerprint reader integrated palmrest? Will it work?

Answer

Community users shared that it is possible to replace the palmrest with a fingerprint reader integrated palmrest.

Tip: Open the BIOS menu and look for a Biometric reader option (even without the actual hardware the BIOS should be enabled for it). If it isn't, then compare your existing BIOS to the latest available based on hardware and machine type.

Fingerprint will only appear in the BIOS (under security) if you have a palmrest with a fingerprint reader attached.
