At Vista startup, PWMTR32V.DLL side by side configuration problem

Error Message:

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see  the application event log for more detail.

Looked at the event log but did not understand the info provided.  Also got error on PWRMGRV.OCX when clicking on Power Manager.

Am not sure how this resolve these?

Got my T61 today and did some cleanup.  Deleted Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Server and some other non-Thinkpad utilities.

This was the error.

Activation context generation failed for "C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\PWMTR32V.DLL". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

I have the same problem, cannot get into Power Manager. Where is the answer? I click the link, it brings up this reply window.

My problem was I uninstalled too much Microsoft programs, including Visual.  After installing Microsoft Visual, even then power manager error went away.

I had the same problem when I clicked the link above...it sent me to a reply to message screen.

I'm guessing by now you have got it fixed.  For those who find this I had the same error message as the original poster had after every reboot.  I unistalled the ThinkPad Power Management driver & ThinkPad Power Manager.  When I let them be re-installed via the ThinkVantage System Update the error message disappeared.
