Ati2Mtag error into event viewer

Hi,

each time the system start I found into the event viewer 5 error message.
Source: ati2mtag

Category: DAL

Type: Error

Event ID: 43034

Description: Unknown EDID version

My System is IBM ThinkPad T43p with 2gb RAM Windows XP sp2

I have recently updated the system using Lenovo System update.

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the video driver but the problem is still here.

I am having the same problem.  I believe it is causing an abnormally long boot time.  Can someone help with this?

Mine is a T60 - 8743-CTO with 4 GB RAM, XP Pro recently restored to factory install and updated with all Lenovo and Microsoft updates.

That driver relies on the .NET 2.0 framework. If that is not installed properly you get those errors.

Go to M$ and install "non-critical updates" for .NET, then reinstall the graphics driver.

You may need the Catalyst driver instead, which is more stable.

I have the same issue on my T43 2886-71U running XP Pro w/2G RAM.

I installed all the MS extras, including all the .NET stuff.

When I try to download / install the video drivers from AMD / ATi I get a message that "Sorry, we can't install the Catalyst drivers on this system. Contact your laptop manufacturer".

Is there anything else we can do to fix this as it does seem to be the reason I have extremely long boot and shut down times.

I have the exact same issues with my T60P system - the same ATI-related error message (and, yes, the latest MS applictions and patches are all installed) and the inability to download anything directly from the ATI site.

Do any Lenovo techs read these forums, or are we left to fend amongst ouselves for solutions?

I solved my problem by downloading and installing the latest ATI drives from the Lenovo web site.

I have the same problem. I have a R52 with WindowsXP Sp2. I have installed/reinstalled all of the latests Windows & Lenovo updates including ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300, 8.383.1.1.3-070621a2-0510 2007/09/04 from Lenovo. If I uninstall the latter and allow Windows to install the driver, the error goes away.

Can anyone help?

I had the same problem with my T43. Much Googling revealed a lot of suggestions that didn't fix it.

Then I found a German-language one that suggested downloading the Catalyst (not Lenovo or ATI) drivers.

I went to Computerbase.de and downloaded the Catalyst 8-7-mobile drivers, ran the install (a very large package) and all is fixed.

They seem to be ATI drivers, but they fixed it so no complaints!

Hi,

I thave installed catalyst 8-7 mobile drivers but it doesn't recognize my graphics adapters because i have a firegl 3200 on my T43p. Probably on t43 the graphics adapter is different.

Any suggestions?
