Considering buying a used T60, how to check by serial if it is FlexView screen?

Those selling used T60's dont know it their machines are FlexView or not, and I can best case get the serial number to check it out by. Is there a Lenovo webservice to look it up?

One of my purchase candidates seem to have the following part number for the LCD:

13N707713N707815 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU

So the question is - is it FlexView?

Check here first:

Then check the FRU of your LCD against the list.

Simple enough...FlexViews (or IPS/AFFS) LCDs were only available on 15" models when it comes to T6x series.

Every single T60/p with SXGA+ (1400x1050) or UXGA (1600x1200) resolution left the factory with a FlexView LCD.

Do bear in mind that "regular" 15" XGA (1024x768) screens are not FlexViews, and never were.

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

yup, the best way is to just get a 15" inch with the higher resolutions. If you get the model number (the 7 digit machine type and config code) rather than a serial number, then you can usually find out by googling that. Adding the phrase "psref" (short for Personal Systems Reference)  can pop up Thinkpad sales documents from back when the model was new and thatll say what model number came with what screen. Its often easier to get the model info than the serial info.
