Hard Drive Password

I just found a logical ridicle that even I don't want to access my hard drive, the bootstrap software still forces me to enter Hard Drive Password in order to use the computer.

Say, if I want to allow others to boot Live Linux CD, while preventing them accessing my hard drive is impossible at the moment. As I must type in the hard drive password to access the boot device menu or boot CDs.

Furthermore, I am just curious that why I can't simply disable those HDD drives just like my TCentre A50? There's option in the BIOS that I can enable both IDE channels, or Primary or Secondary which is really convenient!

By the way, what I am talking about is a T61. Hope Lenovo can come up with a new BIOS that add the functionality as one find in A50 and fixed the logical ridicle. Thanks!
