First of all, i have had my t61 for 3 years without any upgrades and now i feel like i need a bigger and faster hard drive. i am not going to buy a new laptop but i have enough money to buy an internal hard drive.
i have done a lot of research and dound that there are only certain hard drive i can use for example, it has to be SATA.
I found one hard drive that is quite good and cheap. Seagate 500GB 7200RPM SATA 16MB Cache Internal Hard Drive.
Thing is, most websites I have search said a Compatible hard drive will be 9.5cm and this one is 8.9cm. Question is, can i still install this hard drive????????

That sounds like a desktop drive to me...
Laptop SATA drives are 9.5mm height and 2.5" width.

If you are happy with the existing Windows on your existing machine, I would recommend that you clone your old/slow internal hard drive. This wll give you an exact sector by sector copy of your slow drive and you will not have to reload Windows, software programs & data.
I clone my HDD every 4 to 6 weeks as the ultimate backup and them just backup data in between clonings. I am using Apricorn EZ Gig II.
