i'v sent my T43 out according to their rules for two weeks. first, they told me it woudn't  over one week. then they told me there was a guy who would call me in 48 hours. but he didn't. and they even didn't know when they can fix my laptop. is there anybody who can tell me how long i need to wait for? and what i should do? thanks.

I don't know about Canada, but in the U.S. you can track the progress (or lack thereof) of your ThinkPad's repair online. Ask the rep if that feature is available for the Canadian owners. And call often.

There seems to be a bottleneck in parts supply for certain machines, and T43 appears to be one of them....

Keep on calling...after 7 business days, here in the States, you have the right to escalate the issue to the manager. See whether that applies to Canada the next time you call.
