How to Partition while using recovery disks?

When using recovery disks received from IBM, I don't get the option to create partitions on the HDD. Can someone suggest how this can be done either before or after running the recovery disk please?

Thanks.

Re: How to Partition while using recovery disks?

Thanks Vijay,

My question however is how to create the partition when running recovery disks. When i insert the 1st disk, it just says the whole HDD will be reformatted. So, if I have already pre-created 2 partitions or 3, they will again be deleted. The recovery disk does not give an option to create more partitions.

Any ideas or solutions?

Re: How to Partition while using recovery disks?

yes rajeev nothing can be done if you want to recover your system to the factory state....however if your are using windows VISTA you can ofcourse create new partitions by re-sizing the existing ones but be carefull while performing resizing donnot tinker with the service partition at all in thi matter!!

Re: How to Partition while using recovery disks?

No, The recovery discs do not give the option to create partitions. What you can do is interrupt the recovery process.

Right after the last disc has run it will reboot. If you catch it there you can use something like partedmagic to resize and create partitions. When you are finished with the partitions, reboot and let the restore process finish.
