IBM Thinkpad T43 CD/RW DVD problem...

Hi Guys,

 

Need info from anyone regrading my problem on my T43 series Thinkpad laptop.

 

My CD/RW DVD drive can't detect anything on any CD that I place on it.

 

My device manager can detect the CD/RW DVD drive but it is always saying that the CD inside is blank.

 

This is the same on any type of CD I used.

Does it read DVD with absolutely no problem?

Can you boot to a Windows XP CD or Ubuntu CD? 

 

Possibly the hardware for reading CD media has become damaged. Thus needing a replacement drive.

Hi,

 

It can't read any CD or DVD disk but it can burn on CD and DVD blank disk.

 

Also it can't read what it had burn.

 

Any help is appreciated.

What about booting to CD or DVD media? For example, an XP installation CD or Vista installation DVD.
