I mistalkenly copied the file related to ntduser and some in my C:/ drive to a folder. The next restart from this caused me to get this message "NTLDR is missing".
Now that I know to move the file ntuser.dat from my folder location to C:/ location but how can I do that. I dont have the XP CD, nothing like that was given to me when I bought this.
Please let me know if there is a way to open command prompt at the time of boot so that I can copy the required file and restart again?
ideas? pls help!

You can boot the computer from a free linux live CD and move the files. Try ubuntu.com, burn to a cdrom disc and start with the option to not change anything on your system. It will run linux from the CD only and you'll be able to access all your drives and folders.
There is no way to boot to a command prompt without a working OS
Worse case if you need a copy of windows I may be able to help, if necessary send me a PM and we can discuss it but as long as you know exactly how to fix it a linux bootdisc would be easiest. Another option would be a WinPE (preinstallation envionment) CD. Similar to a linux live CD it will let you run windows from a cdrom disc, however much of the OS has been crippled to prevent it from being used as a complete OS, Linux however IS a complete operating system and can be run from cdrom, usb or harddrive.

Sounds like you need a new fan, or it's possible there is some type of debris worked it's way into the fan assembly, but either way it would be easiest to replace it. It is possible to replace just the fan motor, but it can be difficult to source the correct one. I can probably get you one pretty cheap if you'd like my help, or there are many places that sell them online.
