Need data from encrypted hard disk.

Hi,

I had oldie T20 computer (PIII) which monitor just blew up already years ago. The hard disk of that computer had encryption. Computer always asked password when it was started. I have the PW still. However, I would like to get the data out of the hard disk. I have external case for the harddisk to connect it to my PC.

Can someone please help what to do with the encryption.

Regards,

Jani

Re: Need data from encrypted hard disk.

can't you connect an external screen to the laptop, and then transfer the file from the harddrive that way??? If your hdd is encrypted (in your case a hdd password on it), using an external caddy is not the best way to transfer your file.

Re: Need data from encrypted hard disk.

problematix, welcome to the forum,

you will not be able to read the hard drive when it is in an external caddy.

Using an external screen you can use Fn + F7 to toggle between the internal / external display settings. With a bit of luck you will be able to then enter BIOS and remove the password from the drive.

Hope this helps

Andy
