I own a T43 and occasionally the screen just turns a random colour (white, black, gray) whilst the computer is running.
By pressing function and F4 to hibernate the computer and then F4 to re-awaken it, I can return it to normal.
I ran the DiskDoctor program but it passed all the diagnostic tests under 'Run Normal Tests'.
1. What is causing this problem?
2. How can I fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you mean that I should hook up an external monitor via cable to my laptop and test if the problem occurs with it as well?
If so, how can I test this effectively if the problem only occurs randomly?

the problem is that you don't have all the electrical equipments to do the diagnostic tests, so you just have to get by with this method. In order to replicate such problems, you should run some graphic intensive testing programs, if your GPU indeed is the cause of this problems, then you would usually pick up anything unusual.
