Restoring Lenovo T61 to factory settings?

Hi all,

I'm thinking of restoring my T61 to factory condition, but I don't know how. I don't have a Lenovo backup CD available, and I doubt they'll ship a CD to my country (Vietnam), so I need instructions on how to restore using the ThinkVantage button. Please give me thorough instructions, as I'm no expert on computers.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Restoring Lenovo T61 to factory settings?

1. Press the blue thinkvantage button during initial startup of the laptop.

2. Then select restore to factory condition.

3. Choose full factory restore.

This would only work if the T61 still have the recovery partition intact.

I pressed ThinkVantage during laptop startup, there's only 3 options

ESC to resume normal setup
F1 to enter BIOS Setup Utility
F12 to choose a temporary startup device

Re: Restoring Lenovo T61 to factory settings?

that means your recovery partition is missing.

What is the full model number of your T61? xxxx-xxx?

Re: Restoring Lenovo T61 to factory settings?

Also, I tried installing Rescue and Recovery, and tried the "restore to original factory state" but it says that "The Product Recovery function has been removed from this system"

Is there any way to get this "Product Recovery function"? Any help?

Re: Restoring Lenovo T61 to factory settings?

You can buy the recovery media from Lenovo Vietnam for about 50 USD equivalent.

The function of the recovery partition would only be restored when using the recovery media (this would reformat the entire hdd, so make sure you save everything before you do it).
