S.O.S.. PLEASE HELP!

Hi all,

I had a little accident with my Lenovo.. it kinda got wet Smiley Sad(

I tried to clean it, dry it, even with hair-dryer.. but it didn't work, it refuses to turn on.

I'm guessing it requires fixing or else it's gone...

but please please please! Does someone here know how I can remove the Hard disc drive so I'll be able to recover the data somehow? I'm a student and I have all my important stuff in there! please... I could really use your help!

Thanks

Re: S.O.S.. PLEASE HELP!

Hello Mary85,

that´s really sad! You motherboard seems broken. May be a bath in isopropyl alcohol and drying it will bring it back.

But here you´ll find pretty videos and how to´s, to get your hdd out of your system.

On the left hand, choose notebooks, thinkpads and your model, then click FRU removals/replacements.

You probably didn't get all the water out before you tried to start it. Tear it down using the HMM as a guide and make sure it is clean and dry. If you see any burn marks you will need a new motherboard.

Re: S.O.S.. PLEASE HELP!

Shalom Mary85,

To remove your disk drive it's very simple. If your thinkpad is a T61 do the following:

1. Turn off the computer, then disconnect the ac adapter and all cables

2. close the computer display and turn the computer over.

3. remove the battery.

4. remove the screw that secures the hard disk drive slot cover (on the right corner under the word "thinkpad")

5. Remove the cover

6. Remove the hard disk by pulling out the tab.

You can now insert your hard disk drive in a new thinkpad computer.

All these operations are described in "lenovo service and troubleshouting guide pga 33 to 35
