Standby killed ny Nvidia upgrade. HELP

Hello. Have a t61p with XP Pro SP3. Reecently did autoupdate to latest BIOS and Nvidia drivers.  With almost every other reboot, the Nvidia icon dissapears from the task bar and desktop right click menu and this coincides with a failure of the ablity to go into standby, giving me an eror message "The device driver for the "Nvidia Quadro FX 570M" device is preventing the machine from entering standby.  Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update the driver."  A simple reinstall  C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY\SETUP does not fix it.  I fist have to go into control panel , add-remove programs, remove the Nvidisa drivers and then perform the reinstall and after one and sometims two reboots the system once agan fucntions but usually creates the same problem again in 12 24 hours.  Any ideas?
