Hello,
My T61p XP Pro, sp3 was working fine last night, but then froze. I hard shutdown and re-started. Windows loaded, it read my fingerprint and started loading my settings, the toolbar showed both McAfee and Remote Desktop had been loaded, then the desktop got hung up with the hourglass busy and the following errors appeared:
services.exe - Application Error
The instruction at " 0x76a24fff"0x00000000" cannot be "written".
Clicked OK, then,
netwk.exe - Application Error
The instruction at " 0x004Cfcd7" referenced memory at "0x00000000" cannot be "written".
Clicked OK, then,
mcshield.exe- Application Error
The instruction at " 0x022730f4" referenced memory at "0x022730f4" cannot be "read".
Clicked OK, then,
cvpnd.exe - Application ErrorThe instruction at " 0x73de0cdc" referenced memory at "0x00005e71" cannot be "written".
Clicked OK, then,
rrservice.exe - System Error
The instruction at " 0x004018ff" referenced memory at "0x00000000" cannot be "read".
Clicked OK, then,
sometimes it showed the blue screen message with thfollowing codes:
0x000000ED (0xd9cc0000D, 0x...didn't get the rest, but there were a total of 4 in parentheses)
sometimes, the diagnosis attempt produced a BLUE screen with:
STOP: C0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\systemroot\system32\config\SECURITY
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
sometimes it just froze.

Hi There,
I got a similar problem here. My R61 was running fine untill i started monday night after a normal shut down. Windows will start up (very slowly) and i get error messages from rrservice and netwk.
My taskbar doesn't show but i'm able to open windows explorer or a browser.
Pushing the Thinkvantage button does't do a thing.
Anybody any clue what's going on here, and specially how to fix it?
I see there hasn't been a reply on this thread before.
Kind regards
Sander
