T-42 Can't seem to format CDWR's

On my T-42 (2378 R4U), I can make cd-r's ok but it won't use cdrw's.

What might I be doing wrong? Or is this not possible?

Re: T-42 Can't seem to format CDWR's

I don't know what software I'm using. What ever comes with Winxp Pro.

There is a program called DLA or DGA or something like that. That program

pops up when I try to format the cdrw...

I'm not on the T-42 right now...my wife is using it.

Re: T-42 Can't seem to format CDWR's

It might not hurt to run PC Doctor on it too.

Re: T-42 Can't seem to format CDWR's

Thanks for the reply's....

I ran PC Doctor but it didn't give me a clue...

So I ditched the CDRW's and got some CD-R's.....They work great.

I'll figure it out someday when I've got nothing to do.

Thanks again.....Robert

Re: T-42 Can't seem to format CDWR's

I had a dvd burner in a T42 that did the same as yours. When I ran PC Doctor with a CDRW in the drive it failed. If I ran it with a CDR it passed. IBM determined the drive was bad and replaced it. My problem went away.

Hmmmm.....I might give that a try. I didn't know you had to have a CD in

the drive when you run PC Doctor.

Thanks.............

Re: T-42 Can't seem to format CDWR's

Well, it will run without it but you need a disc in the drive to actually test the drive. I believe the instructions tell you to put a disc in the drive when you start the test.
