T30: Upgrading graphics card and HD

I'm looking to upgrade both my graphics card and my HD. I know its possible to upgrade the HD but not sure about the graphics card. I use this laptop mainly for music and light gaming. I would have been fine with just upgrading my HD but recently I purchased the Sims 3 and it says my graphics card isn't good enough to run the game and just says that my graphics card "doesn't appear to support at least Shader Model 2" and to please upgrade it. I'm mainly looking to hear which hard drives and graphics cards (if possible) have made for the easiest installations with a T30.

Re: T30: Upgrading graphics card and HD

Welcome to the forum!

Your graphic card is soldered to the motherboard and can't be replaced. The only solution would be to get a docking station and install a card there, but that's an expensive solution for such an old (although lovable) machine.

As for the hard drive, T30 will take any 9.5mm (2.5") PATA/IDE laptop drive, the largest one currently being WD 320GB.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

George

Re: T30: Upgrading graphics card and HD

Is there any way around that error message that I get when trying to run that game then?

Re: T30: Upgrading graphics card and HD

Not really. The old 16 MB version of Radeon 7500 used in T30 is pretty limited by today's standards.
