Re: T40 Motherboard upgrade

On that platform, my choice would be either a PM 735 (1.7 GHZ) or PM 745 (1.8GHZ) - both of these are Dothan-Core CPUs and will run cooler under stress than your current PM 1.5

PM 735 = Intel SL7EP

PM 745 = Intel SL7EN

Happy shopping.

Cheers,

George

Re: T40 Motherboard upgrade

The SL7EN it is.

Thanx again for the advice. My old T40 will run like a champ.

Re: T40 Motherboard upgrade

[ Edited ]

I have my new motherboard "in transit" and will be here in a couple days, I ordered the new SL7EN processor, a new "long" fan, I already added the bluetooth daughter card, and a new wireless G Wi-Fi card.

1) Is there anything else i should upgrade while I have it torn apart?

2) is there a diagram to show me exactly where to apply the heat sink paste? or can I get an idiot-proof description where to put it?

Re: T40 Motherboard upgrade

Recieved my New (reballed) motherboard today as well as my new "long" fan, just waiting on the SL7EN chip and I'll be all set.

Re: T40 Motherboard upgrade

I rebuilt my T40 today, Put in the New MOBO, long fan, SL7EN processor, maxed out the RAM, upgraded to wireless G from wireless B, installed a bluetooth daughter card and antenna,

This thing works great, no more USB issues.
