T60 Bluetooth Question - Bluetooth Device Not Found

I have a T60 (1951-BS7) thinkpad that has Bluetooth installed.

The Bluetooth radio is enabled, I have the Blue icon in the taskbar.

It appears that the Bluetooth driver is enabled in device manager.

I have updated the Bluetooth firmware and drivers from the Lenovo site.

Here's the problem: when I attempt to open "My Bluetooth Places" and/or open the Bluetooth taskbar icon, I receive:

"Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on."

Re: T60 Bluetooth Question - Bluetooth Device Not Found

Which version of Windows are u using?  I recall that there is a Windows patch to enable an updated version of bluetooth support in Windows. Have you looked at the driver chart for this patch?

Re: T60 Bluetooth Question - Bluetooth Device Not Found

Just out of curiosity. Did you truly enable Bluetooth radio via Fn-F5? If not, then the bluetooth taskbar/desktop icon will be of no use at all, as the radio is not physically turned on. To further verify that the radio is operational, open Device Manager, scroll down to the Bluetooth device and check the properties tabs (check that XP reports the radio is ON).

Hope this helps

Re: T60 Bluetooth Question - Bluetooth Device Not Found

I'm experiencing exactly the same.

I have a LENOVO T60 type 2007-CTO running XP Professional SP2.

Windows did not recognized the existance of a bluetooth device at first.  Bluetooth icon was missing in system tray and control pannel.  Device manager did not show any bluetooth hardware in the system.

I browsed LENOVO's site and found there was a firmware upgrade recommended for my model (v2.1.211.299) which I downloaded and run in my laptop.  After this I downloaded Bluetooth Enhanced Data Rate software (v5.1.0.4700) and installed it.  Bluetooth icon is now there in system tray as well as in control pannel but it reports that no bluetooth hardware is found.  When I go to device manager it reports there is a bluetooth device running properly.

What am I missing?

Re: T60 Bluetooth Question - Bluetooth Device Not Found

adi,

I just had the same problem. Bluetooth on in all ways, but device not found. It turned out that my problem was that I had installed the driver for the bluetooth device before running the setup program. I uninstalled the program, made sure to hit cancel when the device installation dialog came up after I rebooted, then ran the installation program and everything now works.

Hope that helps.

Re: T60 Bluetooth Question - Bluetooth Device Not Found

probably you were right about the order of the installation also. makes sense...

much appreciated - just found this forum which appears great place to crack problems

Anyone here knows how to best transfer outlook 2000 (including contacts/group contacts and the various files in left hand column) to MAC  format ....????

I just installed 'entourage' but didn't seem help much as the .mbox files now on the Mac are not highlighted....??

(am trying Mac, for first time, after much 'persuasion' to run alongside my reliable T60 !!!)

Cheers, Peter
