T60: Error 0192 Embedded Security hardware tamper detected

2013-08-29, 19:18 PM

I bought an IBM T60 laptop off a person. I initially had three errors 0271, 2100, & 0192. I fixed the first two errors just stuck on the last error. The first one was cleared in setting the correct time and date. The second error was fixed replacing the hard drive. I do have the supervisor password and tried resetting the secuirty chip but still not having any luck with the laptop. I tried taking out the CMOS battery to see if that would have any effect on clearing the problem. What's the best direction in fixing the problem?

go into the bios, and clear the supervisor password. Hit F9 to load setup defaults and then F10 to save

That means the chip that holds the configuration settings (not the CMOS) has been damaged or tampered with, the fix is a new motherboard. sorry
