T60 - Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection - not working

2009-02-28, 21:54 PM

I have a 2.5 year old Thinkpad T60 running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3.

Recently, I have not been able to enable/disable the Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection through the "normal" Open Network Connections enable/disable function. When I try, I get an error " It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. The connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support plug-n-play, or it may have been initiated by another user or system account"

The only way I can enable/disable the Wireless Connection is through the Windows Device Manager.

I have already tried various combinations of driver updates, device removal/re-install and rebooting the computer to reset settings. I have also tried to reset my Windows start settings to their default values. Nothing works.

I suspect this issue is related to a Lenovo utility that interacts with the Wireless Network Connection, but not sure if which driver to update.

I back up my computer on a regular basis and run McAfee anti-virus.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
