Hi there! I have a T60 and I recently bought a game that said that my processor wasn't powerful enough..........
So I'm wondering if I would be able to upgrade the Processor chips from 2x 2.0Ghz to 2x intel core i5 3.3Ghz or anything over 2.7Ghz.
Thanks for your help!

While I don't know (haven't bothered to check) which CPU (processor) sits in the T60, it's at least a 4-5-6 year old chip/chipset combo - which means that while you probably can upgrade your CPU, you cannot upgrade to anything new - these CPUs use completely different architecture and is in no way compatible.
Given that you have a 2 Ghz chip in the T60, it seems you only have two different options to upgrade the processor, namely either a 2.16 Ghz version, or a 2.33 Ghz version. Take a look here: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T60

Presuming your T60 currently runs a Core Duo CPU, you can upgrade to a Core 2 Duo from the first generation.
T5500/5600 with 2MB L2 cache, or T7200/7400/7600 with 4MB L2 cache.

Is it really possible to replace a core duo (32bit processor) with a core2 duo (64bit)? I would have thought it would need a 64 bit board, or is the board designed to run 32 or 64bit chips?
Also, does this apply to the x60 tablet with a core duo too? I just got one of them, and I have a couple meron core2 chips I could drop in if it will work. It has a core duo in it now.
ps. that would be a big upgrade going from core duo to core2, definitely worth it
Edit: I see it uses a different (low voltage) chip. Intel Lxxx, rather then Txxx that other thinkpads use.

X series ThinkPads - going back to X2x and including X6x - have CPUs that are soldered to the planar, and not socketed, so swapping these is a no-go.
Yes, any T60/p board that I've ever seen will take a Core 2 Duo CPU from the first generation - I've done that upgrade many a times. The same applies to R60 and Z61 range of ThinkPads.

Thank you very much. I just bought the x60 tablet on a whim, it has a 320gb drive in it and has been upgraded to 3gb of ram and it was only 160usd. I've always wanted to try one of the tablets, but wasn't sure I'd like it, so didn't want to fork out a huge price to get one. Back in 2008 when I bought my T61, they had some in the outlet store for $2000, that originally cost $4500. I don't remember the model, but I wanted it really bad, so now I'll get a taste of what they're like, and thanks for the info on the cpu, I'll just use it as-is, if I like it, I'll buy a better one and find this one a new home.
