T61 Display Problem

Hi All,

I have T61 (7662-CTO) . I am facing this problem where my screen became all distorted with multi color lines running in horizontal and vertical directions. Also I can see my laptop booting and window loading but the screen has these lines and behind them I can see the windows loading Also I can see two images of windows loading on one screen with distorted colors and multiple lines.

About 2 weeks ago my laptop used to hang with display distorted some times. It used to restart also.

Could someone please help me what the problem is?

Re: T61 Display Problem

Welcome to the forum!

Can you post a link to the pictures showing the problem that you're referring to? It's somewhat tough to tell without seeing...

From sheer experience, if your T61 has nVidia graphics, I would assume a failing GPU.

Is the machine still under warranty?

Good luck and let us know.

Cheers,

George

Re: T61 Display Problem

The problem appears to be with the LCD. Call tech support to get it replaced with your warranty. You can also connect your unit to an external monitor to ensure that your unit can still get video from it. If you have problems with the external video, then the issue is with the integrated video card on your systemboard, which would require a systemboard replacement.

Either way this sounds mechanical. If you're in the states call 800-426-7378. They'll open a trouble ticket for you.

Thanks,

Mark
