Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

this problem has been driving me crazy for weeks, it's def. when running on battery and takes about 5 minutes before hardware interrupts go up to 40%

I think it is WIFI related though as if i disable this using the switch on the front of my t61 i don't get this problem (but it's not much a solution as I then need an Ethernet cable!)

There is a an update for the Intel driver if you run Ms Update, but whe nyou install that the CPU problem goes away but then it starts having connection/dns problems on wireless whether on battery power or not so I have to rollback the driver.... any other ideas how to solve this?

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

If anyone cares, I've reformated my computer to factory state (software is from early 2008) and I don't have the issue anymore.

I haven't updated any drivers yet, and if I do, I plan on doing them one by one and run tests to figure out exactly which update causes the issue.

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

tried to upgrade WIFI driver (for PRO/Wireless 3945ABG) to latest version from Intel wbsite (i.e.- 11.5.0.36 -> 12.2.0.11 (nov 2008) but still get the high CPU problem and now it seems to disconnect from my wireless network randomly every 5 minutes... so had to roll back the driver back to 11.5.0.36

Lenovo! do you actually read these forums? I don't want to have to reinstall my entire laptop just to get something working properly which is an essential function this machine! - please look ino this and post some replies!

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

I had the same problem on a T61 with Intel GM965 and driver 7ld150ww.

Problem went away after I downgraded to 7LD140ww.

7LD140ww is at

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

Confirmed... the older video driver version 6.14.10.4926 fixed the issues I was seeing on my T61 as well.

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

how were you able to update to the old driver? When i look for display adapters under device manager, I have 2 intel chipset 965 family, when i load one with the old driver, the other goes back to the updated version??

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

I just ran the executable, 7ld140ww.exe. It warned me that I had a newer driver, but allowed me to backtrack... I read somewhere else that if you have an Intel driver already loaded, it won't allow you to install the Lenovo driver. My guess? If just downgrading the driver doesn't work, uninstall the driver from the Computer Management screen, reboot and then try to install the Lenovo package.

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

Seems to have worked for me too. Thanks a ton for the suggestion... this bug was making battery usage basically pointless.

The link is erroring out as "No file found" though. Had to manually search for the driver and download it that way.

was finally able to roll back driver in safe mode, now have to see if this fixes the issue. I will update as soon as I run my tests Smiley Happy

Re: T61: Problems with Hardware Interrupts when on battery

*sighs*

Looks like I'm going to have to upgrade back to the current revision... the battery performance is fine, but I keep getting blue-screens from reverting the graphics driver... Generally 0x0000008E first (Kernel_Mode_Exception_Unhandled), followed by three more reboots with 0x000000EA (Thread_Stuck_In_Device_Driver), with the BSOD fingering igfxprd or some such name as the culprit.
