T61 Two new batteries won't charge

When the second Lenovo battery I bought again lasted only a year, I bought one for half the price at the local computer store. That one stopped charging after a week, so I bought another one at battery plus because I was getting on a plane to Brazil the next day. The new battery never charged. The computer works on AC power but goes out even if power's disconnected for a second (for example a jiggle of the attachment.

I live in Brazil now. What can I do?

Thanks.

Re: T61 Two new batteries won't charge

Does your Thinkvantage power manager recognise that your battery is inserted?

One of the biggest problem with some of the compatible batteries, is that the battery power connector to the motherboard is often misaligned or in a weird angle. This causes frequent disconnection of the power when you jiggle the battery a bit.

I am assuming that you are using a 9 cells?

Re: T61 Two new batteries won't charge

Yeah, with both batteries it pops up with a message telling me I may not be using a genuine battery.  It also let's me fiddle with settings and has the battery 0% thing on the bottom.

I believe they are 6 cell- the ones that do not stick out.

Re: T61 Two new batteries won't charge

I think suitable measure would be to buy genuine battery in future, no doubt they're expensive, but are problem free at least...
