I have a one and a half year old T61. Since last weekend I have several problems with the display.
There flicker some lines and some rows in different colors, the display does not start at the upper left corner, and sometimes there is something like a green cloud at the bottom that gets bigger and fills all the screen. So normaly I can't see anything at the display.
Only when I rotate the display back and forward it sometimes gets into a normal mode. With an extern display everything is ok.
These problems already start while booting and showing the BIOS screen, so it should not be the operating system.
I'm not quite sure what really makes the problems. Is it the display it self or only the connection from the mainboard to the display? What could I do to fix this problem?

Its an Intel one.
Product: ThinkPad T61 6463-B45 [change]
Operating system: All [change]
Original description: Based on 6463-9XG: T8300(2.4GHz), 4GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm HD, 15.4in 1680x1050, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32
But do you really think its a GPU problem? Because the extern display works fine!

have you considered Thinkplus warranty, which is a post warranty warranty? It would be cheaper that way.
Alternatively, you can do it yourself, you can get the part from the net, and then follow this manual to change out the LCD.
