Thanks. I had seen that list, but the only ones listed for the 7662-CTO are the ones with the NVS 140. There are two listed with the Intel GMA X3100 graphic, 41W1487 and 42W7866. How do I know what the differences are and which of those two boards would be the best replacement?

the difference i believe is the processor that they take. the 41w1487 will take up to a t7700.
the 42w7866 will take up to a t9300
availability and price might be a concern. you might be able to find a 41w1487 bare bones reasonable where your processor off your old board will drop right on.
what i don't know is whether your processor will work on the 42w7866. although that board would seem to be the most upgradeable board. i would think that this board will be the more expensive board.
judging from what i see on ebay, the 41w1487 is between 100 and 200 bucks, usually.
and the 42w7866 is between 200 and 300 bucks.
some come with processors and most don't. but, we're talking about ebay, you know how that goes. that should give a basis for price and availability though.

Well, I got it a few days ago.... I turned it on, and in about 20 minutes the screen went out! ..Same symptoms as everyone else reports... bright lines all over, then it went out.... So the thing's Nvidia card had already failed before I even got it.... But at least he refunded me the money.... So I bought another one on ebay that has a INTEL gpu.... I will be sure to stay away from nvidia from now on......

Yeah. This guy listed another one just the same as the one I got,, except he changed the description, saying the screen goes out after turning it on....and he removed the part that says it has an Nvidia GPU..... lol and he has a starting bid at $250, and a buy it now for $475 plus shipping ...... lol .....at least he made the description more accurate.

My T61 with Nvidia 140M died last night. The screen just froze, so I restarted it and it never booted up. There is a little light from the screen, but no image. This morning I hooked it up to an external display, and I was able to boot in safe mode. Thought a reinstall of Vista would fix it, but it hasn't. Right now i'm able to use it with an external monitor, but there are a bunch of short vertical lines in the screen. I noticed that when I reinstalled vista, it only recognized the "Standard VGA Graphics Driver"...and the Nvidia graphics card is nowhere to be found.
I called lenovo about this, and they said there was an extended warranty program for this type of thing, but to qualify, the LCD screen on the laptop had to show a garbled image. Mine shows nothing, so they said it'd cost me $575 to get it fixed(my 3 year warranty ended 3 months ago). At that price I'll just buy a new laptop.
Is there anyone I can talk to about this? I'm almost positive it's the same widespread issue of all the bad 86 series Nvidia graphics cards.
How do I get ahold of Mike Hopkins?
