@mlau .... send Mark Lenovo a Private Message ASAP and also call back and ask for technical support, not customer service because CS sometimes can not pull up MIGR-75087 but tech support can!
They also may be hoping you will simply give up and go away this close to the March 31st deadline ...... Keep calling and eventually you will get someone who knows about the issue and if not, ask politely but firmly that they escalate you to a tech support supervisor.

@eecon
Thanks for the suggestions. I called a 3rd time and the guy finally knew about the problem (w/o even mentioning the internal document). He had me put my phone next to the comp to hear the beeps. So now they're sending me a box now.
I'll pass this information onto my brother who is having the same issues too. I wish Lenovo was more upfront about the issue and would contact the people who purchased the laptops. It's kind of sad when it took 3 calls to get someone who will do something about the problem.

Mlau ...... nice work on your part! ![]()
Yes, it is a shame, but remember they are not a US owned company anymore like IBM. ![]()

Add me to the list of victims of the 1L2S beeps =(.
Purchased this beautiful T61p on eBay for next to nothing, not knowing much about the condition. It arrived to me without a HDD, Memory or Battery. Installed Memory and got the dreaded beeps.
Good news is the warranty on this unit expired last November, so I'm well within the 6 month grace period =).
T61p 15.4" 2.4GHz 6458-A67.

Just want everyone to know it was a quick and painless process
.
Called 1-800-426-7378 at 18:30 EST and got Jerimiah from Atlanta, GA. After briefly explaining my problem he asked for the model number and S/N of my unit. I warned him that my laptop was "definitely" out of warranty, but I'd gladly give it to him anyway.
After a brief pause HE informed ME that this was a known issue and he'd be sending me a box no questions asked!!
CALL THEM WHILE YOU CAN!

Thanks eecon! Thankfully only new to this forum, not Thinkpads
. Been through 560's -> 600's -> 770 -> 390-> iSeries -> T20's -> T40's -> T60 -> T60p -> R61 -> and now this monster T61p; probably forgetting a bunch along the way too!
Some of you from the old Thinkpad forums might remember Thinkpads-r-us on eBay? That's still us ![]()

Mykul .... Just curious, what was the date code on the bottom on your eBay unit?

eecon-
It says 07/11 next to my S/N (I think, it's a little scratched off).
